Aloha from Maui, Hawai'i

With the body and mind rested from the prior days travel of flights and lay-overs, I woke up feeling well refreshed and extremely eager to jump into my morning swim this day, two days out from the channel swim. Of course before any actual athletic activity commenced, the first order of business was to enjoy some freshly brewed Hawaiian coffee beforehand, then catch up on all online communications that had begun to pile up in the time period of lengthy air travel.

Down to the beach early near the hosting race venue in Kaanapali, water conditions looked pretty good from the beach from where I was standing. The 3"-4" foot swells that were crashing in on the beach, did little to obscure the flat and calm surface of the massive body of water, that filled up my view beyond them. With the morning sun shinning bright, I dove in and made my way off the shoreline for a leisurely swim. Nothing spectacular in effort or distance, well maybe a mile or so, but that's about it. I did though a few times, stop and glance over towards the island of Lanai while treading water. Gazing in amazement at the distance fully knowing that, in just a few days, I will make that strenuous solo crossing myself.
