So thing's are literally coming down to the wire here in Maui, Hawai'i. In under 12 hours now, I will start my day by boarding the escort boat that will carry me over to the island of Lanai, then shortly thereafter, escort me back as my solo swimming quest gets underway. For the second day in a row now, water conditions have been ideal as the official start of the 2011 Maui Channel swim draws ever so near. As of now, it looks as though the race will be blessed with great weather conditions. The pre-race meeting is over, final preparations are being finalized on the boat, and the last meal has been eaten. Pretty much all that is left, is to simply retire to bed, and rest the mind and body for what lies ahead.
Today's postal delivery in Hawai'i, brought a special little care package care of the "good stuff," sent from the wonderful people at Planet Sun Performance Sunscreen and UV Protection. The staff there have been so enthusiastic about my personal solo swim attempt of the Maui Channel when discussed in the past, and have been even more supportive when they agreed to be part of the actual effort just a short while back. I will have ample time to think of many thing's whilst I am swimming alone out in the channel tomorrow, but I will make sure to take extra time to think and send warm thoughts to Planet Sun's own John Edward, regarding the loss that his family has just recently suffered. John Edward, I'll be sending some good vibes your way, and hoping that somehow through my athletic efforts in accomplishing this long distance event, that it will bring a smile to your face...Mahalo brother!
